  • Lexington High School Debate Guidebook for Guardians, which explains in details on LHS debate history, operation, etc., can be requested from the BOLD president

  • The LHS Debate Guidebook has many great information. Below are just highlights.

    1. President

      Duties include: Work closely with Kaz to operate BOLD to support LHS debate team.

    2. Past President

      Duties include: Provide guidance for current BOLD operation from past experience.

    3. President-Elect

      Duties include: Shadow the president to learn how to run BOLD operation.

    4. Secretary

      Duties include: Take notes in BOLD meetings/brainstorm sessions and distribute meeting minutes for approval.

    5. Treasurer

      Duties include: Propose donation plan and manage various BOLD financial operations.

    6. Assistant Treasurer

      Duties include: Shadow the treasurer to learn BOLD’s financial operations.

    7. Family Communication

      Duties include: Handle the communication between BOLD board and debate students’ guardians on all matters.

    8. Parent Judge Coordinator

      Duties include: Help Kaz to organize parent judge training, and find parent judges for a tournament when requested by Kaz.

    9. Three parent member

      Duties include: Represent debate students’ parents/guardians to participate in BOLD meetings and brainstorming sessions.

    10. Three alumni members

      Duties include: Represent past debate graduates to participate in BOLD meetings and brainstorming sessions.

    11. Three community members

      Duties include: Represent Lexington community to participate in BOLD meetings and brainstorming sessions.

    12. LDI Director

      Duties include: Create operation plan and execute it for Lexington Debate Institute (LDI).

    13. Webmaster

      Duties include: update & maintain the BOLD website.

    1. Little Lex Chairs

      Duties include: Organize Hospitality for Coaches and Judges/Sign Up Volunteers to Sell Lunch & Snacks to Students/Get Donations from local businesses to defray some of costs and also donations from families.

    2. Big Lex Chairs

      Duties include: Organize Hospitality for Coaches and Judges/Sign Up Volunteers to Assist Cafeteria Staff in distributing food to students for lunch and dinner at Clarke and LHS on Saturday and Sunday/Sign Up Volunteers to Run Concessions/Get Donations from local businesses and debate families to defray costs.

  • All type of contributions (time, money, knowledge sharing, etc.) from our guardian/alumni volunteers help the success of LHS debate team year after year. For example: Little Lex/Big Lex, a great number of volunteers sign up to keep the events running smoothly.
