Supporting Lexington High School (LHS) Debate Program.

LHS has one of the largest and longest-running high school debate programs in America. For over forty years, LHS debate has helped students become responsible, engaged and civic-minded citizens through rigorous preparation, excellent coaching and demanding competition.

LHS Debate is organized into a school organization (headed by the LHS Debate Director) and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (BOLD, headed by a volunteer board). The term “BOLD” is also used more generally to describe the guardian volunteer organization – of which every guardian who has a student in the debate program is automatically a member. The operation of LHS Debate relies on guardians to be involved in BOLD to raise funds and volunteer at tournaments, events, and fill BOLD leadership positions.

Since 2017, BOLD has sponsored a LHS student and alumni run summer program called the Lexington Debate Institute (LDI). This program provides an introductory debate course for middle school students in Lexington and neighboring towns. In addition to providing this service to the community, LDI also helps raise funds for BOLD to further its mission to support LHS Debate.

BOLD Board meetings are open to all guardians associated with the LHS debate program, and you are encouraged to attend. Board meeting dates will be announced through email and also published here. Meetings are once every quarter of the year, typically September, December, March and June.
